Milik out of Euro with injury
Poland and Marseille striker Arkadiusz Milik will not participate in the upcoming Euro 2020 championship due to injury, Poland’s football association PZPN said in a statement late on Monday.
The 27-year-old striker has been battling a knee injury since arriving at Poland’s training camp, where he mostly trained individually.
The symptoms that the player experienced during training and additional examinations following practice confirmed that the injury will not allow Milik to fully train or play the Euro games, PZPN said in the statement.
Milik will now return to his club to heal the injury. Poland coach Paulo Sousa decided not to replace him in Poland’s squad for the tournament.
Poland will play Iceland in a friendly on Tuesday, the last test before the Euro 2020 tournament. In the group stage, the Poles will face Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
